Music and song has always been a wonderful part of Sabrina Thievin’s life. Since the age of 4, she began her training in ballet at the Edmonton School of Ballet followed by the Alberta Ballet School and continued to add to her repertoire with jazz, character, creative dance, French folk. In 1986 she trained in Musical Theater at Grant MacEwen College. In 1987, she discovered ballroom, Latin, country, & swing dancing. Working & training with a variety of coaches, including Jean Marc Genereux, Buddy Schwimmer, Ron Montez, Marc Andre Roy, Michel Guimond, Jane Edgett she fell in love with the art of partnership dancing. She currently instructs American style, primarily DVIDA syllabus material and is a member of the Canadian Dancesport Federation. She is also the creator of the Groovy Goddess, a freestyle dance program that teaches women how express who they are.
She began instructing part-time ballet, jazz, & creative dance to children in 1984. After discovering ballroom dancing in 1987, she turned her focus to the full time instruction of adults. She soon discovered that not only does she love to dance, she began to love teaching as much and sometimes more than dance. Being able to take someone from" I can't do this" to "I can and I have fun doing it" has been full of personal satisfaction for her. Recently, Sabrina has worked with the St. Albert Skating Centre, teaching partner dance to their competitive skaters during summer school.
It was while doing personal, business, and relationship growth courses with her husband that, starting in 2000, she discovered the world of the masculine/feminine work that enthralls her (and her students!). Under such trainers as Satyen & Suzanne Raja, Harv Eker, Jack Canfield, Blair Singer, Stephen Garrett and others, she has discovered & developed her unique programs & style of teaching. Sabrina has an amazing talent for encouraging people to find and grow their unique spark and teaching them how to use it to connect with another.
For over 24 years as a ballroom and social dance instructor and the owner of Sabrina’s Dance Instruction, this Groovy Goddess teaches thousands of men and women how Dance Can Make a Difference in their lives.
